The Beginning of the End

Over the course of the time spent in the house in Ponchatoula, The activity in the house began to wear me down. It had gotten so bad in fact, that I could no longer even take a bath without my husband being in the next room, out of fear that something may happen when I was in the tub or shower. As it was, I would see the ghost of a black cat every time I would get in the tub. This particular spirit didn't bother me as I love black cats and felt his presence was more comforting than anything else. However, the threat of bodily harm was an ever present part of life in the home at this point. I had started seeing the most grotesque visages sitting upon the bed in the master bedroom. These things were solid and their bodies were a ghastly rotting white in color. They sat at about 7ft tall in height and there faces were garish with too wide smiles and elongated sharp teeth showing beneath peeled back lips. On one occasion, i was walking down the hallway toward the kitchen. I had gotten to my daughters room when what I can only describe as a shadow figure, came out of her room toward me as my dog was coming from the opposite direction toward me, The shadow figure took a swing at me. Instinctively I threw my hands up in front of my face and took a step back. Luckily for me the shadow's punch didn't hit its mark. My dog ran up and nudged my knee letting me know it was gone.

The 1st Ghost Investigation

Some months later, my husband and I decided to contact a paranormal investigative team to come out mainly just because we wanted to see what they would catch on film. We found a local team that came out. Like good hosts, we laid out snacks and drinks for the team as they set up their equipment. A minute before they had their cameras rolling, Everyone heard the sound of a cat caterwauling loudly from somewhere by the back door. While we had a cat and dog, both had been boarded at the vet for the night. This occurrence, we'd learn later was a signal that things were about to begin, you'll see what I mean in the next section. Anyway, the crew got the cameras rolling and the investigation began. My husband stayed with the computer monitors and their computer tech while I walked the house with the crew. At one point, in the master bedroom, i was standing by the dresser and as one of the guys moved his camcorder in my direction, sweeping the room, he froze. his camera pointed right at me. The look of shock was clear on his face. I asked him what's wrong and he said I just watched a golden light flash right in front of you and disappear through you. Obviously no one in the room, myself included saw this, but it was caught on his camera. One of the women that was part of the crew said she saw orbs all through the home. I'll stop here for a moment to simply to say that most orbs are nothing more than dust or small flying insects. I don't put much faith in orbs, as I've never seen them with my own eyes that weren't caught on camera. The investigation didn't seem to catch much in the way of activity, at least i didn't think so. The team packed up their equipment and said they'd get back to us in a week or so after they reviewed the footage. So we waited. After two weeks, we called them to see what they had gotten if anything. That's when we were told that they had had footage but that all of it had been lost. When I asked if they wanted to come back, the guy sounded very spooked and his voice very shaky as he said that was a hard pass.

The Visions Start

As I mentioned in Grand Central for the Dead: Part 1, I am accustomed to spirits and whatnots. What I didn't mention is that I was born with certain "gifts." One day I was standing in the kitchen and looking down the hall to the master bedroom. I was lost in thought trying to figure out what to do to close the portal or doorway, whatever you'd like to call it, to make the activity in the house stop. That's when I saw it in my mind, A huge heavy wooden door that looked ancient. So I did what I could to " Close " this door. Whatever I did seemed to have worked for a few months and we finally had some peace for that time. However, the activity only slowed a bit never fully stopped.

The 2nd Investigation

At this point it had been 6 months to a year since the last investigation. The activity in the house was worse than ever and our moods weren't much better. So, I contacted another investigative team to come out, one that seemed a little more professional. The team arrived and set up their equipment. I had Hor d'oeurves and drinks set up as it was going to be a long night. Just before the team was about to get their cameras rolling, we all heard a cat caterwauling by the back door. again, our animals were boarded at the vet for the night. This is when I realized that whatever this entity was, it was signaling that the team was getting ready to start the investigation. For the record we never heard the cat since. the cameras again begin to roll and I walked the crew through the home. I wasn't sure if they had even gotten anything but as they were packing up for the night, they said they would go through the footage and get back with us. a couple weeks went by and I received a call from them asking if they could come over and go through all of the footage. Of course we said yes. Boy did they get some stuff. They caught the mimic on audio imitating one of the men on the crew. We heard the sounds of native American chanting and drumming on their audio feeds. unfortunately, they were unable to catch anything on film. However, they did do a little digging into the property itself and found that a woman had shot her husband in the face with a shotgun after she found out he was cheating on her. Which ultimately led to some neighbors hanging her from a tree in the yard for her crimes.

The End for us....in a way

In the days following the last investigation, I had cleansed the house with everything I could and yet the activity continued. We eventually made the decision to sell the house. We were tired and we simply couldn't take anymore. So, we began the process of getting the house sellable. We started repainting the walls first. On one of these occasions, my daughter was in the master bedroom with me, both of us were on ladders painting near the ceiling. She was across the room from me by the door on her ladder when all of sudden she screamed. I turned and looked and her ladder was violently shaking as if someone was trying to tip it over with her on the ladder. i climbed down off my ladder as fast as I could and ran to the other side of the room. I grabbed ahold of her ladder to steady it. It was still threatening to topple over. I held it long enough for her to climb down, when I let go the ladder fell over sideways nearly missing the window. Luckily no one was hurt. My daughter and I never went back into the house after that. At this point, I'm sure you're curious about the photo at the top of this particular post. As it is a little difficult to see, I will post a close up of that picture below. In the meantime, that photo was taken by me. I was approximately 150 feet away from the house in the middle of the street, trying to take a photo of the front of the house before we put it up for sale. When I loaded the photo onto my computer, something caught my eye. now, this is important, When I photograph I never use a flash. I prefer natural light. So, what caught my attention was a bright spot in the window next to the door. I zoomed in and that's when i saw not only the reflection of the front of my camera, as if I was standing close to the window, but the spirit of what looks to be a boy. No one was in the home or even out front of the house when I took the photo and the boy appears to be inside the home looking out.

Yes, i realize the pic is a bit blurry. but I do believe you can make out the image. The original image is the cover photo for Grand Central for the Dead part 1
